Install vidspawn on macOS
vidspawn runs on Apple Silicon Macs, free for individuals and with no account. Pick whichever way suits you: hand the whole thing to your AI agent, run one command, or download the DMG yourself.

The one-liner
Paste this into Terminal. It downloads the signed, notarized app, moves it into your Applications, launches it, and registers vidspawn's MCP endpoint with the AI clients on your Mac.
Apple Silicon macOS. Re-running it updates to the latest version and never duplicates a connection.
The DMG
Prefer to click? Grab the disk image and move the app across yourself.
Download the DMG- 1 Open the DMG once it downloads.
- 2 Drag vidspawn into your Applications folder.
- 3 Open vidspawn from Applications.
The app is signed by a registered Apple developer and notarized by Apple, so Gatekeeper opens it with no override. If macOS ever blocks it, the download is incomplete: fetch it again rather than working around Gatekeeper.
The one thing macOS makes you do yourself
The first time you start a capture, macOS asks for Screen Recording permission, and for Microphone permission the first time you record the mic. These are privacy permissions only you can grant: no app or installer can flip them for you.
The grant takes effect once vidspawn relaunches, so macOS offers Quit & Reopen. Accept it and you are recording.
vidspawn's own onboarding shows the same status with its own Open Settings and Relaunch buttons, so the app and this page lead to the same place.
